In N Out burger does not
spend millions of dollars on promotional strategies unlike other fast food
chains such as Burger King and McDonalds, in which they though tons of money
into ad campaigns, but In N Out burger relies on locations of their stores that
can be convenient to costumers, they also give away hats, t-shirts, bumper stickers,
and by doing so they let their customers broadcast their message through whatever platforms customers which to do.
In N Out Burger's bumper stickers.
"One of
In-N-Out's most successful marketing strategies came in the form of bumper
stickers. In Southern California, starting in the early 1980s, placing an
In-N-Out sticker on the back of one's car signified membership in a peculiar
sort of club; all along the freeways, horns were honked, thumbs were raised,
and heads were tipped in recognition."
This makes us wonder why such a strategy is so successful? and why it cannot be the same to other fast food chains?

Some nice ideas and observations here, but this post raises more questions than it answers. First, how would you classify the promotional techniques used by In and Out, using the taxonomy we went over in class. Why do you think they are effective?
ReplyDeleteIf they are spending very little on promoting their product, perhaps that is one reason they can keep prices down? Can you find any information to support that hypothesis?
Giving away free bumper stickers is easy to do, but why would someone want to put the sticker on his/her car? Why join the "club?"
